On May 24, the first China Youth Sports Industry Exchange Conference was successfully held during the 2024 China Sports Show. At the meeting, the "small basketball sports equipment and venues" group standard jointly formulated by the Chinese Basketball Association and the China Sports Goods Industry Federation was officially released.

In recent years, the domestic small basketball game has developed vigorously, the basketball population has increased significantly, and a large number of talents have been mined and cultivated for Chinese basketball. In 2017, the Chinese Basketball Association officially released the "Little Basketball Development Plan", and the Little basketball League was launched at the same time. Since its launch in 2018, the total number of participants of the China Little Basketball League (6-12 years old) has exceeded 550,000. In terms of construction scale, according to the survey report of the sports Industry Development Research Center of Tsinghua University in 2023, there are more than 7,500 basketball social training institutions.

After several years of accumulation and development, the concept of "small basketball, big dream" has taken root and sprouted across the country. With the rapid and vigorous development of small basketball in China, the market urgently needs to establish a series of small basketball standards suitable for our country's national conditions, and the venues and equipment of small basketball need to be reasonably designed according to the development characteristics of children and teenagers.

In this context, in August 2023, the "small basketball sports equipment and venues" group standard launch meeting was held in Beijing, after nearly a year of project approval, drafting, writing, approval and other series of work, the final standard was officially released. The group standard from a professional point of view, put forward and unified product related parameters indicators, specific requirements and experimental methods, standardize small basketball sports equipment and venues, aimed at providing a safer sports environment for children and youth, while better promoting the development of children and youth basketball.

At the conference, Zhang Yong, head of the standards and training Department of the Chinese Basketball Association, said that regulating industry standards is one of the most important functions and core missions of the Chinese Basketball Association, and "1" is the standard in the "1-2-4" strategy of the "14th Five-Year Plan" action plan of Chinese basketball. "Standards are very important to promote the healthy development of basketball, and the" small basketball sports equipment and venues "group standards developed together with the China Sports Goods Industry Federation is also the first standard developed by the Chinese Basketball Association, which is of landmark significance. In the next step, the Chinese Basketball Association and the China Sports Goods Industry Federation will continue to do a good job in the promotion, implementation and training of the standard." Chinese Basketball Association standards and training department head Zhang Yong said.

Song Xiaobo, former captain of the National Women's Basketball team and a member of the Chinese Basketball Hall of Fame, mentioned that in the past few years of the vigorous development of small basketball, the basketball population has increased significantly and the mass base has become deeper, which has mined and cultivated a large number of talents for Chinese basketball. The small basketball standards jointly formulated by the Chinese Basketball Association and the China Sports Goods Industry Federation are the basis for establishing a series of small basketball standards suitable for China's national conditions. I believe that with the joint efforts of all parties, the future of Chinese basketball will be brighter.
