In 2013, the first FIBA Basketball House was built in Geneva, Switzerland. Today, the second FIBA Basketball home is in Shanghai.

"You can notice the quality of the facilities, the quality of the venues, it's just amazing!" Standing next to the court, FIBA chief operating officer Patrick Mahrier lamented.
This is Patrick's second visit to Shanghai after five years, the last visit to Shanghai was for the 2019 Men's Basketball World Cup, and this time is hoping to promote the home of basketball.
"China has the largest basketball population in the world, and one out of every five Chinese can play basketball. Today, FIBA is bringing the concept and new experience of the Home of basketball to this great country." Patrick said.

The world's first FIBA Basketball House is located at FIBA's global headquarters in Geneva and contains more than 40,000 objects, including the FIBA Hall of Fame, symbolizing the history and heritage of basketball.
In contrast, the world's second FIBA Basketball home, completed in Shanghai, focuses more on practical attributes. "Fiba has always been committed to promoting the development of basketball worldwide, promoting basketball culture, cultivating basketball talents and letting more people feel the charm of basketball," Patrick said.
Patrick stressed that FIBA will provide better sports venues for the FIBA Basketball Home, and will also host FIBA coaching courses, youth training activities, FIBA 3X3 Open Championships and other basketball-related activities.
Patrick said that the first domestic FIBA Basketball House is just the beginning, "The Basketball House in Shanghai is a good template, I expect there will be dozens of basketball homes throughout China."
